Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

You are free to post everywhere, unless the thread explicitly states otherwise (usually in the case of a vote), and there are no private forums whatsoever. We just require you to not make multiple accounts. Let us greet you by posting a thread in the Introduce Yourself! forum.

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

For historical threads, check out Signups Closed, Finished tournaments and Results. We also have Nominations, Voting and Event threads for exhibitions – past and present.

    What if Lugia was Water/Flying.

Was reading some comments on YouTube and noticed how some people thought back in the day Lugia should have been a Water/Flying type, as the opposite of Ho-Oh. So that's where the idea came from...

I don't play much GSC Ubers but I know Lugia is a big deal there and that Thunder coverage is already common for it. Presumably this would nerf Lugia quite a bit, the Water resistance doesn't help much (makes it worse for ho-oh though...) so I guess other stuff becomes more focal to the games, like Mew, Mewtwo, and Snorlax.

How would it change GSC Ubers?

well not really played ubers as much as i wanted to but just doing some fast calcs of normal Lugia vs Water/Flying Lugia i got this:

    Zapdos Thunder vs. Lugia: 224-264 (53.9 - 63.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
    Zapdos Thunder vs. Lugia: 449-528 (108.1 - 127.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
    Ho-Oh Thunderbolt vs. Lugia: 108-128 (26 - 30.8%) -- 5.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
    Ho-Oh Thunderbolt vs. Lugia: 217-256 (52.2 - 61.6%) -- 98.6% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
    Mewtwo Thunderbolt vs. Lugia: 137-162 (33 - 39%) -- 10.3% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
    Mewtwo Thunderbolt vs. Lugia: 275-324 (66.2 - 78%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

This would mean that Lugia basically cant really stay in vs any Electric Type and being possibly OHKO by a critical hit from non-stab electric attack pokemon like Ho-Oh or Mew2. Its a pretty big change having in count that Lugia can normally afford to stay in vs em (Ho-Oh, Mew2) just clicking curse + recover, and if lugia is running whirlwind he can just phaze them out and then recover on something that isnt a threat

Lugia stops being Skarmory on magic steroids and becomes Skarmory on ordinary steroids.

Mewtwo is stronger because Lugia isn't a semi-solid answer to it anymore (it's not the best answer as-is, but Mewtwo outspeeding and 2HKOing it is a flashing "Go Away" sign). Ho-Oh sees more use since its weaknesses are no longer so much more crippling than Lugia's.

Lugia is a big gatekeeper, but most teams will probably still keep a Lugia or Ho-Oh around so I'm not sure how many of the things it keeps out of Ubers could break in.
