The Seasons Tournament System
- For those of you unaware of this tournament system, as described by Lusch on this wonderful thread:
The system in which RBY tournaments on PP have been held all these years was the following: There would be regular Bo5 single elimination tournaments, called Master Tournaments (MTs). Players would earn points depending on their performance in those MTs. One point represented one won game. (You'd earn 3 points by winning a Bo5.) Points of three of those MTs would make up a Season. There were three seasons of RBY OU per year, which makes 9 MTs per year. Furthermore, there was a rolling system in place, called Player Rankings. The Player Rankings would show the amount of points players gained in the latest three seasons. Each time a season ended, it would contribute to the Player Rankings, while points from the season one year prior would get erased from the rankings. The standings in those rankings also made up the seeds of any given MT.
This tournament circuit system rewarded short term success by winning MTs but also long term success by adding up points of multiple MTs in a season, which itself contributed to the overall Player Ranking. For MTs, Seasons and Player Rankings there were gold, silver and bronze medals for the respective winners, runner ups and third place finishers.
