  2. Welcome to Pokemon Perfect, Guest!

Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

You are free to post everywhere, unless the thread explicitly states otherwise (usually in the case of a vote), and there are no private forums whatsoever. We just require you to not make multiple accounts. Let us greet you by posting a thread in the Introduce Yourself! forum.

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

For historical threads, check out Signups Closed, Finished tournaments and Results. We also have Nominations, Voting and Event threads for exhibitions – past and present.

Welcome to PPL - the Pokemon Perfect League!

Here's an overview of what this is and how it will be run: potential managers will sign up in a thread, and then I will decide upon who gets to manage, with help from other members of the community in deciding. There will be a minimum of 4 managers in total. They will each manage a team, named around one of the Pokémon types (so you can support a team even if you're new! Just support your favourite type!). Managers don't have to play in the tournament; if they choose they want to play they have less money available in the auction. Managers will be able to pick who is on there team, using an auction format.
Every manager is given 80k imaginary money to spend at the auction. Then they bid on players to have in their team. The minimum bid is 3k for a player, and new bids must be at least 0.5k larger than the previous bid. If a manager wishes to play, they have only 70k to use in the auction.

This will be held on IRC in the #pokemonperfect channel.

Players will sign up in a signup thread, to be posted once managers are decided. Each week, these are the metagames to be played:
RBY 1U, GSC 1U, ADV 1U, ORAS 1U, + 2 wildcard metagames (decided at the start of each week)
    RBY 1P
    RBY 2U
    RBY 3U
    RBY 4U
    Violet
    GSC 1P
    ADV 1P
    ADV 2U
    DPP 1U
    ORAS 1P

More metagames will be added if we have greater than 4 teams. These metagames could be added, in this order:
    Stadium
    DPP 1P
    RBY Tradebacks
    DPP 1U + Latias
    RBY 2P
    Stadium with Tradebacks

as well as others which have not yet been determined such as:
GSC with additional restrictions (e.g. GSC Gemini, GSC with item clause, GSC without event moves)
    BW in some form
Further variants of RBY with Tradebacks and Stadium, for example Uber tiers, as well as the likes of Tier Shift.
    BL0 and Not Fully Evolved
DPP 1U with Latias and Mew OR Salamence permitted
    DPP 1P with Arceus allowed

Each team requires a minimum of 8 players (effectively allowing for 2 substitute spots each week). Each wildcard metagame will be played at some point during the tournament. Each team will play each other team once, and then the best two teams will rematch in the final to determine the winner. In the event of any tiebreaks, a best of 3 with 2 metagames chosen by the respective managers and random metagame decided by me (which can be a main or wildcard metagame). There will be trophies handed out to the players and manager of the winning and second-place team.

If a player has concerns about their team then they should please contact myself or Lutra and we will do our best to help resolve the issues.

Manager Signup thread can be found here.

Ok since this is still within the first day of posting I hope no-one objects (I have spoken with a few potential managers about this already). Here is a rule change:

If you are a manager and want to play, you have 70k in the auction
If you are a manager and you don't want to play, you have 80k in the auction
