Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

For historical threads, check out Signups Closed, Finished tournaments and Results. We also have Nominations, Voting and Event threads for exhibitions – past and present.

    Ninetales [IMG][IMG][IMG]
    Type: Fire
    Stats: 73 | 76 | 75 | 100 | 100

    Introduction

Among the 4U Fire types, Ninetales is usually a third pick after Rapidash and Arcanine. It doesn’t have as much physical power as its fellows, meaning it can’t hurt or make your opponent think twice about switching into some Waters as well as the other Fires. Though Ninetales as some things to offer of its own and notably a higher special, meaning it blocks sleep from Venomoth better if it’s paralysed, but also meaning it can 2HKO Porygon with Fire Blast around 66% of the time (with a burn it’s almost a guaranteed 2HKO). It also has access to Confuse Ray if you want to mess around with that. Ninetales isn’t the premier Fire type choice, but is still a decent one.

    Standard

    Ninetales
    - Fire Blast
    - Fire Spin
    - Body Slam
    - Hyper Beam / Confuse Ray

    Set Details

Fire Blast is your most powerful STAB, hitting hard everything that doesn’t resist it. Fire Spin helps you gain momentum, put stuff in KO ranges, and couples very well with a burn, but should be used sparingly due to its poor accuracy. Body Slam is the most spammable physical attack that can eventually paralyse. Hyper Beam finishes off weakened pokemon that resist Fire move. Confuse Ray is something Ninetales has the other Fires don’t, it can be annoying for your opponent to deal with sometimes, making Ninetales somehow better midgame than Rapidash and Arcanine. It pairs well with Fire Spin too, but not having Hyper Beam can be problematic at times.

    Other Options

Flamethrower is an option over or alongside Fire Blast if you wish to have more accuracy, but it's less powerful and it doesn't spread burn so well. Toxic is an option to couple with Fire Spin but it's not very reliable.

    Checks and Counters

Blastoise is the only lead that forces out Ninetales, and is also a very good check in general. Switching out to it if your lead fears Ninetales is a very good option, but be aware that in this case, your opponent can immediately switch out to Venomoth to have an early sleep advantage. Otherwise, Omastar is the best counter, taking close to no damage from Ninetales and destroying it with Hydro Pump. Slowpoke can come in and threat to set up but has to be careful of the 19.53% critical hit rate. Paralysing it usually with Porygon or Venomoth on a switch helps handling it, notably making Fire Spin worthless. Nidoking can then pressure Ninetales but hates a potential burn from Fire Blast. Staryu is also an option if Ninetales is paralysed. Chipping it with Venomoth by using Psychic here and there also is a good way of gradually taking it down.

"Staryu is also a tool if Ninetales is paralysed." I think you might want to change 'tool' to 'option' or something. The way it's phrased it comes off as the slang definition of 'tool'.

I think Toxic could get an OO mention, it isn't as good for Ninetales as it is in 5U since Scyther and Rapidash are faster and Poison-types are common but it can help Ninetales get around Waters/slower fires when used with Fire Spin.

add an OO section and put flamethrower since it could appreciate having a 99.6% accurate STAB option in its moveset too (either alongside or over fire blast) but it doesnt spread burns so well

don't forget to add [GP Ready] in the title once u've implemented the changes
