    Jynx [IMG]
    Type: Ice/Psychic
    Stats: 65 | 50 | 35 | 95 | 95

    Introduction

In RBY Ubers, as in any other RBY metagame, getting off a fast sleep can be crucial, so Jynx, as it does in RBY OU, has a solid niche—being a lead that can threaten sleep. It also has the added benefit of being able to force opposing out Exeggutor leads out with Blizzard, and it also matches well with most opposing leads except for Jolteon (in this case, paralysis and sleep will probably be exchanged) and Gengar (which, being faster, might put Jynx to sleep first, Hypnosis's shaky accuracy not withstanding). Overall, Jynx is a worthy contender to start things off for your RBY Ubers team!

    Sets

    Standard

    Jynx

    - Blizzard / Ice Beam
    - Psychic
    - Lovely Kiss
    - Rest / Counter

    Set Details

Blizzard and Psychic are obligatory STAB attacks. Psychic is Jynx's main attack to spam, because freeze is an extremely valuable status, and Jynx will probably want to land it on Mewtwo (which is unlikely) or Chansey to facilitate a sweep from your own Mewtwo. Ice Beam is also a decent option for the larger amount of PP it provides to go for a freeze, but this extra PP rarely comes in handy, and Blizzard's higher Base Power is usually appreciated. If played properly, this Pokemon can let you put two of your opponent's party out of commission, one with Lovely Kiss and hopefully another with freeze from Blizzard! Remember, thoughm out of these two status ailments, freeze is the more valuable land, so if putting (or threatening to) something to sleep will help you land a favorable freeze, then by all means go for it. Rest lets Jynx heal up and helps in countering Chansey, while Counter can be used to let Jynx switch into a Normal-type attack that it can tank (such as Body Slam from Snorlax, although you're risking paralysis) and take out an opposition team member on the switch, due to the unique way in which Counter works in RBY.

When playing Jynx, keep in mind that freeze is a huge threat, so don't spam Ice Beam willy-nilly or you might just freeze the wrong Pokémon on the opposing team. Preferably, you'll want to freeze a valuable target like Mewtwo. Keeping this in mind, your opponent is unlikely to bring in such a valuable team member, so don't be surprised if more often than not you only end up freezing a relatively less important Pokemon in your opponent's team.

    Other Options

Seismic Toss is another option because it's Jynx's best attack to hit Slowbro with, but you'll have a really tough fitting it onto Jynx's move set.

    Checks and Counters

In spite of being a prime freeze target, Chansey can switch in and threaten Jynx with paralysis, although if it has Rest, it'll usually be willing to make that particular play. Slowbro and Starmie both resist Jynx's STAB attacks, and Slowbro can take the opportunity to set up. Jynx has very few checks that want to switch in for fear of freeze, especially when Jynx is not afflicted with a status (usually paralysis). Once paralysed, it becomes much easier to handle with RBY staples like Snorlax able to force it out with the threat of an OHKO; in this particular situation, Mew can also force a 50/50 and force Jynx to either take a Hyper Beam or Body Slam or switch out and let Mew set up Swords Dance.

Regarding lead matchup, Gengar is still a thing in Ubers and matches up well with Jynx, while vs Jolt I wouldn't favour one side over the other, since Jynx usually gets sleep off and Jolt gets para and maybe damage off, which is kinda what they're both after

Personally I'd slash IB with Blizzard, since the damage inflicted by Jynx tends to be less important than getting a freeze off, even if the extra PP is seldom useful.

It's worth mentioning specifically that Rest lets you wall Chansey, which can be said either in set details or C&C. Maybe mention in C&C that Bro and Starmie resist both of Jynx's STABs, with Bro being able to boost up and be a threat.

    Good stuff

Comments about trying to freeze certain mons e.g. you might want mewtwo frozen so freezing chansey earlier on with Jynx might be a losing approach. At least some comment on how using jynx affects the team's overall strategy would be great.

good enough by my standards but maybe @Lutra or @Ortheore would have more to add.

Nah, I think this mostly looks fine. Thought of maybe adding SToss to OO since it's Jynx's best option vs Bro. Otherwise all good as far as I can see

Mimic in Other Options. Never liked it though.
    Well, didn't notice it's Ubers... +6 Slowbro Surf vs. +6 Jynx: 102-121 (30.6 - 36.3%) -- 57.8% chance to 3HKO, forget about Mimic.
