Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

You are free to post everywhere, unless the thread explicitly states otherwise (usually in the case of a vote), and there are no private forums whatsoever. We just require you to not make multiple accounts. Let us greet you by posting a thread in the Introduce Yourself! forum.

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

    • Signups are open to all previous winners of a RBY Master Tournament, Season or World Championship.
    • Players will be assigned into two round-robin groups and play 3 games against each opponent. The top 2 from each group advance to the BO5 semifinals.
    • During the group stage, ties count as 0.5 points for either player. In later rounds, ties should be ignored.
    • The winner of the tournament is declared the Vermilion Champion, qualifies for the Indigo Cup and receives a [IMG] trophy by their avatar!
Clauses: HP Percentage Mod, Endless Battle Clause, Stalemate Clause, Cleric Clause, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, Species Clause
Banned Moves: Dig, Double Team, Fissure, Fly, Guillotine, Horn Drill, Minimize, Psywave
    Banned Pokémon: Mewtwo, Mew
Any matches not played by the deadline are subject to activity calls by the host, namely, may be coin flipped or result in an activity win being granted to a player who has made greater effort to ensure that the game is played.

Both forum and simulator activity are taken into account in order to determine whether a player has made the required effort in the situation of an unplayed match. It is each player's own responsibility to make the host aware of activity in other places like Smogon or Discord, for example by posting in the thread.

Only minimal extensions will be granted in the case that a major real-life event has prevented the match from happening, and under the condition that both players already agreed on a time that lies at most 72 hours past the deadline.

Any calls I make in specific games can be contested for 24 hours. If no objection is made during that time, the decision is final and will not be changed.
For scheduling, leave a visitor message (VM) on your opponent's wall. In case of an activity call, VM activity will be considered above everything else. Scheduling on Discord or Smogon is also possible, but keep in mind that the host cannot trace this by himself in case of an activity situation, so it is your own responsibility to make him aware of your activity.

Games are to be played on Pokemon Showdown, with Pokemon Online serving as an alternative if both players agree. Pokemon Perfect has its own Showdown [server], which is the most recommended place to play games.
If several players are tied, the games between those players are counted to determine tiebreak scores. This rule can be used recursively, so if it can only partially resolve a 3-way tie, it is to be applied again for the two remaining players. In the case a tie cannot be resolved using this rule, wins against the other (non-tied) players will be weighted based on their rank. In case of an absolutely symmetric tie, BO3 tiebreak matches can be played if needed, with the exception that the tiebreak will be BO1 for a two-player tie with a score of 1.5-1.5.
Individual sets of 3 games between the same two players will never be grouped together and considered as a single "series", since "winning" two sets of games 2-1 each is not a better or worse result than a 3-0 and a 1-2.

Play 3 games against each opponent. Ties count as 0.5 wins for both. Please post replays.
First 2 of each group advance to the BO5 knockout round.

    Group 1

    1. Bedschibaer 4-2
    2. ErPeris 3-3
    3. Mister Tim 2-4

    Mister Tim 1-2 ErPeris
    Mister Tim 1-2 Bedschibaer
    ErPeris 1-2 Bedschibaer

    Group 2

    1. Lusch 8-1
    3. Kaz 4-3
    2. MetalGross 1-6
    3. Troller 3-6

    Kaz 2-1 Troller
    Kaz 1-0 MetalGross
    Kaz 1-2 Lusch
    Troller 2-1 MetalGross
    Troller 0-3 Lusch
    MetalGross 0-3 Lusch

For obvious reasons please try to get your games done as soon as possible.

Sad to see the same situation from last year repeated. GGFan, if you don't respond to all of your opponents today, you will be disqualified and barred from entering any more Vermilion cups.

GGFan didn't respond to Bedschibaer, who contacted him on Discord, in addition to missing the time against ErPeris today without any further comment. It looks like the responses to ErPeris and Mister Tim yesterday were merely an attempt not to get dq'ed for johning, and I'm beginning to see a pattern of this user missing games against stronger opponents. Out of fear of tarnishing your record, maybe?
I'm therefore following up to yesterday's announcement. GGFan is hereby disqualified from the tour.

Lost 1-2 vs my friend Beds in a roller coaster of haxy games where my Starmie was unstoppable and his Tauros literally didn't care at all about reflect lax. In spite of everything i enjoyed the games, they were fast and fun. Let me say it's always a pleasure to play vs you. "Ggs", wp

The only reason I signed up was because I noticed that the tour only had seven signups instead of the more convenient eight, so I tried to be helpful. I'm sorry I didn't play, but that doesn't justify your petty and childish attacks. "A pattern of missing games against stronger opponents?" Against who? Bernard? We all know what happened in WCOP. ErPeris? I played him in Saffron Cup. Mister Tim? Nice joke. "Tarnishing my record?" I went negative last year and still started in SPL, managed in PPL, started in WCOP, started in POCL, and started in WCOPP--nobody cares if the longest active player in this tier's history doesn't do well in one tour in a game decided largely by random variance. Maybe I didn't play because of external circumstances, such as lack of motivation or personal issues. It's not befitting of a host to cast aspersions so recklessly--I'm beginning to see that the people who criticize and mock you have some credibility.

It's not your job to cast unwarranted and unnecessary judgment on others. Just DQ those you feel should be removed from the tour and move on. It's also disappointing to be treated this way considering how much I've vouched for you in the past. Unfortunately, that is the nature of Pokémon on the internet, it seems.

Just a quick post about this from my side... (I normally stay out of stuff like that, but let's give it a go).
Why did you sign up in the first place? You say because we were 7 players and you wanted to help out and make it eight. That all sounds wonderful if you actually are the eighth player of the tour (which means actually playing your games). But the way it went down, you better should just not have signed up and let us figure out a solution for 7 people (maybe play a group of seven with the first 4 players playing a semi final and final round). The way you did it, you did not help the tour at all, but made it worse.
Everyone is free to play or not play. You have your reasons, whatever they may be. But if it is something like personal moivation, then you know beforehand that you won't play. Next time, please don't sign up if you have no motivation to play. That'll help more.

That is my opinion about playing in tours regardless of tour or player btw. You like to call me a player somewhere in between a part-time player and a full-time player. That description might fit because I only sign up for tours if I want to play them, and don't sign up if I lack motivation. It's really simple actually.

    No dramas please.
Let's continue with this tournament and that's it. If I'm not mistaken there is only one player (kaz / metalgross) missing for the next phase. Let's end it with discussions, extensions or similar, I do not want another saffron.

Chrysalis , please make this a different deadline. You know how it is around Christmas time and new year around the corner. Friends you haven't seen in a long time are back in town to celebrate with their families etc. It is THE opprtunity to meet them.
Yes, it's possible to get those games done, even then. And I don't want to rule out that Peris and I will. But at the same time I think it would be way more convenient to play them in the new year. I too don't want to have another Saffron, but I think one week longer won't hurt anyone...

I'm not trying to claim that what I did was beneficial for the tour, but to claim that deciding against playing was some kind of horrific, morally reprehensible act that ruined everything is, quite frankly, ridiculous. People should be able to drop out of internet Pokémon tours without concern of what is supposed to be an impartial figure resorting to temper tantrums and childish slander. I've dropped out of seasons before, but the host didn't throw his feces at me and claim I was afraid of playing certain people. If he just said it the way you did-- "next time, if you're not sure about signing up, please err on the side of not signing up--" I wouldn't have needed to respond, but you should realize this type of behavior is uncalled for regardless what your stance in this is. Of course I'm going to respond when somebody who is in no position to belittle others--if you have qualms with that, I don't know. Go vent in your team Germany discord while he like mobs your posts because he knows his position is untenable.

People drop out of tours. It happens. Maybe it's not conducive to the success of them, but if you condone lashing out the way he did, then your voice is nothing but noisy, useless air. Linearcurve dropped out of the ADV WC when it was in round 3--go call him a raging pussy. Again, I'm sorry for not playing. I didn't mean to hurt the credibility of the tour, but I think that should go without saying considering how long I've been here and how much I've advocated this place over the last half decade. A little respect has been earned.

In the future, knowing that this will likely upset people, I will not sign up for a tour if I'm even "just" 99% sure I'll play.

Nor do you: that sent went three games, and it meant virtually nothing. I was obviously referring to this:

    Twitch

    Finished - WCoPP 2: Week 2 | Pokémon Perfect

"How can you rank yourself at #7?"

Yeah, that was a bigger blunder than the person. I ranked myself too low and you too high. Sorry about that.

Kaz seems to be inactive, therefore forfeits all 3 games to MetalGross.
    Bedschibaer

e: after obtaining logs, this doesn't seem to be a clear-cut act situation, rather a misunderstanding between the players with MetalGross showing up late at times and Kaz not responding for long durations at other times. If Kaz manages to show up until Thursday morning (9am GMT), please actually play the series. Otherwise act.

    e2: act to MetalGross.
