  2. Welcome to Pokemon Perfect, Guest!

Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

You are free to post everywhere, unless the thread explicitly states otherwise (usually in the case of a vote), and there are no private forums whatsoever. Also, let us greet you by posting a thread in the Introduce Yourself! forum.

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

    Tournament Format
    • Fuchsia Cup is a Battle Royale tournament that consists of several rounds.
    • In each round, players can freely challenge other players from the same round, who are free to accept or refuse that challenge. The amount of games played can be chosen individually.
    • A player is awarded 1 point for a won game and loses 1 point for a loss. Ties, including those caused by self-KO, do not affect either player's score.
    • Upon reaching a score of 2 points, a player enters the next round. A score of -2 leads to disqualification from the tournament.
    • In the first round, a single point is enough to advance.
    • The winner qualifies for the Indigo Cup and receives a [IMG] trophy by their avatar!
    RBY OU (OverUsed) Rules
    • Banned Pokemon: Mew, Mewtwo.
    • Banned Moves: Dig, Double Team, Fissure, Fly, Guillotine, Horn Drill, Minimize.
    • Clauses: Freeze Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause. Self-KO is a tie.
Arrange location: Visitor Messages on Pokémon Perfect Forums
    Battle location: Pokémon Showdown!

    About Activity
Even though there are neither deadlines nor activity calls in this tournament, it is integral to the success of the format that every player maintains a certain level of activity. Specifically, if a participant has played less than 2 games within a week of entering a round and having available opponents, they may be disqualified if they are unable to provide sufficient evidence of their activity (e.g. scheduling with an opponent that missed the time). Furthermore, extremely unsportsmanlike behaviour, such as scheduling with several people and not showing up for no apparent reason, will be punished as well.
Since a disqualification at a score greater than -2 has huge implications on the format, I highly advise you not to sign up if you cannot guarantee constant activity throughout the tournament.

    About Matches
Players will probably gather around the Ruins of Alph channel on PS or the Smogtours or PP servers, so idle on there if you want to catch them. Please play matches in the RBY OU tier following the above rules.

I think this could be problemactic.
Let's assume there is one player in the field (I'm gonna call him player X) who most if not all other players in this tour consider better or equally good as themselves. What incetive do players have to accept a challenge from player X or challenge him themselves? Their chances are higher to earn a point by just accepting challenges from weaker or equally strong players. And this would not even be unsportsmanlike behaviour or something, it's just logical for every other player...
I'm not saying this has to happen, but I think player X could end up not having the oppoortunity to earn the 2 points he needs to advance in time (given that this is first come first serve, kind of a race here) or at all.
Is there any rule that tries to make sure player X has the same chance as everyone else? (in fact he should have a better chance at winning this tour than the average player because he's better than the field, but this format could lead to him having less or no chance at all.)

Yeah that's why I changed the fcfs rule, Troller already asked me about that on Discord. We are now waiting for 24 players, no more, no less. R1 you advance with 1 win (16x) and drop with 2 losses (8x), after that it's 2/-2.
Either way, there's no valid alternative. Forcing the challenge is kind of a shitty format, like GGG has shown (GGG actually was a huge testing ground for scrapped Fuchsia ideas) and it's already unique to Saffron, where it's at least somewhat justified due to the format being... special in general.
