  2. Welcome to Pokemon Perfect, Guest!

Our motto is Pokémon Practice makes Pokémon Perfect. We are a competitive-battling community that encourages the development of players and their ideas, and fosters positive and respectful attitudes. We love Collaboration (working together), Competition (getting stronger), and Communication (being informed).

You are free to post everywhere, unless the thread explicitly states otherwise (usually in the case of a vote), and there are no private forums whatsoever. Also, let us greet you by posting a thread in the Introduce Yourself! forum.

  3. Tiers

View Introduction to Tiers if you don't know what tiers are. Pokémon Perfect tiers are named differently to those on Smogon. A numeral followed by the letter U, e.g. 1U, 2U, 3U, represents a main tier on Pokémon Perfect – the '1' of '1U' representing the tier level. For a tier to be a main tier, it must be balanced (nothing is too powerful and game-breaking) and diverse enough (include a variety of Pokémon and strategies). A numeral followed by the letter P, e.g. 1P, 2P, 3P contain all Pokémon that are deemed overpowered in the respective 1U, 2U, 3U tiers. The 1st tier level allows Pokémon that are banned in the 2nd level, and this process continues down. Read the tier list, and in-depth explanations of the tiers naming system and tiering system. Also check out our analyses for all tiers.

  4. Tournaments

RBY 1U Seasons and its master tournaments are responsible for starting up the community, and tournaments continue to play a big role in maintaining interest in the forums. Signups Open gives you a list of tournaments you can join, and Ongoing lists tournaments that you might want to follow. Additionally, you can tap to find out approximate Schedules for tournaments.

For historical threads, check out Signups Closed, Finished tournaments and Results. We also have Nominations, Voting and Event threads for exhibitions – past and present.

Hey! I'm TobyTrigger (think I went by TobyNet in Netbattle days), I'm an old dinosaur from a forgotten era. Have always come back every 2-3 years and played a couple of games. I'm trying lots of hobbies at the moment for fun and expanding my mind; learning chess, golf... thought I would come back for a few ADV matches!

I'd quite like to take it a little more seriously, study things I just would wing back in the day (damage calculations, speed tiers, filling gaps in knowledge, speed creeping EVs etc). Just improve.

Watch out, I might make Boah the meta again o_O

Heh, just met you on the ladder (I was on the alt dlt1 thelinearduck, for the tour Dewford Cup). Good game. (Can't speak btw since I'm permalocked... long story, I can tell some time I guess but yea don't worry about it for now lol, I can talk on PP's server: here's a link :3

Think I played that endgame really badly, not going after Regice's PP with Zapdos. That being said, 3 turn sleep on CBTar + Freeze on Umbreon sucked lol.

Definitely some stuff shows your age... Regice is barely used any more (let alone with Rest on it), and Gengar is almost never used as a lead. That being said, not everything I was using is particularly common; only really me or friends of mine use Wish Pursuit Umbreon, and TauntWisp Fire Punch Giga Drain Gengar is probably something only I'd run.

Anyway, great to have you! ^_^ there's a few players on here who probably played during Netbattle days, though more in the case of RBY players than ADV players... if you have any questions shoot me a message ^^ I'm also down for some more ADV games if you like :]

Good game! At least I'm not running 5 resters + heal bell haha.

You had a really great team concept, passing light screen to forre and trapping my starmie spinner with pursuit umbreon is amazing synergy. I had no right winning that game really! Managing to toxic zappy was crucial I think (and I fished for it for a while knowing you weren't going to let me)... plus me constantly thunderbolting into your pert expecting a switch was stupid... but I presume you must have thought I didn't have giga drain by that point? Lots of turns where I immediately hit myself for silly decisions!

Regice is a ridiculous mon how is it not loved? is everything TSS with hyper offense these days or something? I was running boltbeam/rest/Psych up. Next you are gonna tell me subseed jumpluff, dusclops, and lead ninjask don't get love anymore :p

I say I'm an old netbattler, I actually started on the G/S/C IRC bots. But I was a little kid at the time (I'm 26 now). The day I found out 386 was on netbattle was ridiculously cool. When I was 13-14, I would be writing out movesets and EVs all the time... scribbled all over the place, trying to come up with cool teams etc etc... I have so much stuff clearly remembered, I was obsessed.

Well I wasn't sure you didn't have giga drain but the longer you didn't show it the more I got away with using pert against it...

I think the best way to describe regice's fall-off is the metagame is increasingly focussed around abusing Gengar+Spikes+Sand, and Regice is worn down far easier than Blissey. In addition, the increased presence of Jirachi (in particular, with new sets like Fire Punch/Wish/Protect/Body Slam or Toxic, with some particular EVs that do a bunch of stuff) is really bad for it. It's kinda hard to justify over Blissey these days. Ninjask is definitely not loved as much as it used to be but it does see some occasional use actually (or maybe non-lead? idk, but McMeghan - a very good player - has a decent Ninjask team iirc)... Dusclops is basically dead, tbh I think Jumpluff is too but is probably the best thing on the list besides ninjax.

That's pretty cool that u played on IRC bots. One of our oldest competitors on the forum, GGFan, was around in the era of GSC IRC bots, but he played RBY on Porygon's Big Show since at the time he couldn't figure out how to work the IRC bots.

Don't recognize the name TobyNet. What servers did you frequent?

No idea. I was part of the Pokeschool community forum and participated in Nintendo Official Magazine forum tournaments. I would just go on and play and learn from my losses, try to build teams etc. I would look up standards on gamefaqs guides, try them out, mix them up, etc etc. Did a lot of stupid stuff like every 12-13 year old. I learnt alot from reading warstories (remember those?) and game logs people would post on forums.
